who’s afraid of ai?
North Carolina State University, Fall 2020
Teaching Assistant for Professor Helen Armstrong
Data, data, data... Big data. Biased data. Cleaned data. Stolen data. Misunderstood data. We live in an era in which machine learning increasingly generates high impact predictions/insights by detecting patterns in large datasets. How does machine learning work exactly? What can designers do with the resulting AI capabilities? What dangers and opportunities emerge as we plot out user experiences in this emerging space? Over the course of this semester, we will explore these questions.
Get Smart, Zoom
Students designed a new Zoom feature incorporating machine learning (ML) capabilities to improve the user experience.
SAS Project
In collaboration with SAS Analytics, students prototyped an experience that utilized Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in response to a team challenge. This fast-paced intensive project involved an Unnamed News Organization, Covid-19 data, and bias detection.
